Banyan Tree Park - The Things You Learn in a Meditation

Updated: Dec 4, 2020

I work as a Medical Intuitive so I pick up a few things here and there. I hope what I share inspires you to seek the answers to your questions about why life unfolds the way it does, how you can change your path any time you want to, and realize with all the tragedy, heartbreak, pain and suffering, that it’s still a beautiful world, where miracles happen every day if we are open to the experiences, and the messages whispering in our ear.

I was at a Writer’s Conference on Maui exactly one year ago. I met some incredible people, experienced the wisdom of Dr. Wayne Dyer, and broke bread while having lengthy and inspiring discussions, sharing with wide-eyed enthusiasm (that sweet spot where we imagine all the possibilities that lead to success), and writing our opus. I have a story, you have a story, we all have a story.

Part of my spiritual quest was spent in meditation under the infamous Banyan Tree in Lahaina Park with some new friends and my daughter. What a delight to share this experience with three lovely souls. The beauty of Hawaii was reflected in these women with the breeze of kind words floating across our conversations, the music of the ocean currents shared in laughter over dinner, and our sacred meditation, bonding in friendship through silence.

The experience of meditation is truly an introspective one for me and I approach it with reverence. I always learn something, even in the irritation of discomfort, and this one was no different. When spirit speaks, this is what I hear.

Lessons Learned In Meditation

Distractions

While I experienced nary a single mosquito in Hawaii, there were these tiny incessant gnats that love the shade and will land, crawl, tickle, hover, and buzz, driving one to madness if not for a hand swat in my mind’s eye. Just like the distractions in life that can inflict suffering, from a minor irritant that sidetracks us from what is important, to catastrophic thoughts about what could happen, meditation brings the mind (thoughts, feelings, emotions, sensations) back to calmness by focusing on the breath and letting thoughts pass.

The irritation of the gnat (like some people, a place, or a thing in your life) is just a reminder that you are alive and you are master of your senses. You don’t have to fix a problem by using drastic measures or getting wrapped up in the fight to be right – to win at all costs. Neighbours can wage war over a fence or a barking dog. You get to decide how to respond. Like a scent in the wind – let the breeze carry the anger away – in and out of your consciousness. It doesn’t make them right – but it gives you peace.

The Noise

Noise presents in thoughts, emotions, feelings, spiritual insights, and intuitive messages. You get to decide which ones to let go of, to embrace, to listen with your heart, your gut, and your higher self. Focus on what is wrong and you will get plenty of that. Focus on bitterness, resentment, grudges, and revenge, and that will fill your days. This noise “sticks” in the body, your tissues, organs, systems and mind, implanting a body memory and birthing the embryonic seed of dis-ease. You can release these or not. Either way, you are shaping the future of your emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental well-being. Caroline Myss – Medical Intuitive says, “Your biography becomes your biology.” Choose your thoughts wisely. You hold the key.

I also have those moments where the noise overrides my intuition. The key to your peace is in becoming aware when it’s happening and return to your inner wisdom. People chronically override their intuition because it doesn’t seem logical. Logic is counter-intuitive. Trust your gut instincts, pay attention, tap in, and listen. It will never steer you wrong. I speak to my mother posthumously regularly. She shares her beautiful wisdom, her love and her insights from the other side. She makes me laugh, cry, and love her even more now than when she was alive. When spirit speaks, I listen.

The Company You Keep - Your Tribe

You have a choice every moment of every day, who you invite to you inner circle. There will always be the minor players – like the flies under the Banyan tree. They cannot hurt you with their lack of importance in your plans unless you invite them. Do not waste a minute of energy trying to change another person, getting them to like you, or engaging with toxic people, or thoughts about those people. It doesn’t matter how angry I get at the gnats, they are just doing what gnats do.

Being in the company of like-minded, vision quest souls, is the nectar required to blossom, grow and thrive. That’s why this meditation under the Banyan tree was so magical. I shared my sacred space with these beautiful women. I experienced the miracle of connection and communication with my mom in my own private, and very personal way. I was supported in all ways and from all realms.

That is how I do life. Sometimes I need to do the work and do it alone, sometimes I need to share the load, and other times I rely on spiritual guidance to expand my consciousness. I get to choose. I leave you with this. Never underestimate the power of your intuition. Use it wisely and discerningly to make your way into the unknown, take the calculated risks in life to experience joy, exhilaration, peace, harmony, spiritual growth, and most of all, build the foundation of ameliorating your capacity to love. PS – Every one of these things is already inside you. Your job is to love yourself enough to bring it to full expression. Have a beautiful day!
